Leeds Photographer in Headingley

I called into Cafe Lento in Headingley to get some photos for a future post on the Leeds Photo Daily and little later whilst I was drinking a delicious latte this chap came in. He is James Hardisty a photographer with the Yorkshire Evening Post. James was at the Lento to get some photographs for a feature the paper was doing. I said hello and it turns out he knows my friend photographer Lorne Campbell, we swapped cards and James let me take his picture.

James was kind and asked if I was happy with the pics I had taken, knowing he was against the light in the doorway. So I took another of him outside photographing the front of the cafe.

I will post more from the cafe Lento in Headingley, Leeds tomorrow.

How cool is that! A photograph I’m sure likes to be photographed now and then.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come back tomorrow!

National Insect Week 2012

Picture of a bee to mark National Insect Week.

Today 25 June is the start of National Insect Week which is organised by the Royal Entomological Society.

Perhaps the most famous member of the Royal Entomological Society is Charles Darwin. The member that I most associate with the society is the late Miriam Rothschild, a member of the banking who whilst she had a distinct lack of a formal education became an expert on the subject of fleas. Miriam Rothschild became perhaps the foremost amateur entomologist of her generation.

These days you would have to work in a zoo or the wild to study the larger mammals like lions and tigers. This is not at all the case with entomology, the study of insects, you could probably study this subject in a garden shed.

More information about events and activities can be found on the national insect week website.

To mark this week I had been out and about over the last week or so to try and get a decent picture of an insect. The result of my effort is the above picture of a bee taken on a flower in Headingley, Leeds.

Traveling the Bendy Bus Leeds

I traveled from Leeds city centre up to Headingley yesterday on a bendy bus, not been on one in many years. I took the above photo with my new Blackberry, upgraded to newer model last week and only used the camera yesterday, was surprised to discover that it does geo tags. Though I already knew about geotagging I have no real idea how to put it to use on this blog, but I will look into the idea.
