The young man in the photo above is Matt Belmont a singer – songwriter busking in Leeds city centre. Matt is stood in front of Debenhams dept store adjacent to Briggate, Leeds.
There were several buskers in Leeds on this Saturday 2 May and by chance I chatted to a couple of street wardens from Leeds city council about buskers and the council is considering issuing licences to buskers. This is already a requirement in some other towns and cities. I think the idea is to improve standards.
Matt Belmont would I think have no problem because he can sing and play the guitar very well. I liked his music and so did a couple of girls not far from me, I think they liked him a lot!
